About Me

My name is DaJuan C. Sewell. I am a soon to be English Grad from UIC with Concentrations in Creative and Professional Writing & double minors in Anthropology and History.

As my final year in school is coming to a close, talks began with my parents on what to do after I graduate. These conversations between us and other outside factors started to escalate the whole situation and now (I'm sure you've heard this before) I have a 30 day "notice" given to me by one of my parents (who doesn't work btw) to move out.

I've bought my own car in full AND paid my way through school myself with a few FAFSA loans and money I've earned over the years, and unless I take out a dumb amount of secondary loans this semester or my appeal gets accepted for more loans/aids I won't be able to finish my 8 credits left to get my degree. This comes at the worst timing ever, but having some place to live is more important right now than this piece of paper.

Currently the job I work at could sustain me, but I'd like to finish my degree sometime soon, and I'd also like to make more money. So I'm on the hunt for more jobs/a better job. I've been working since I was 13 and I never quit a job before I have another one. I've also worked 3 jobs at once. Basically what I'm trying to say is I can make money and I have good work ethic, so me being late on rent is something you won't have to worry about. Luckily I've been able to acquire quite the resume/portfolio in my own field and just in general so not having a degree won't hold me back as much as it would others, which I'm grateful for.

Now that you know my whole backstory and why I need a roommate, here's the pitch:

I have no problem cleaning. I don't clean up disgusting messes, but house mess is no problem for me to make a schedule that works with everyone and that keeps the place clean. I love a clean space, but I also don't mind the general areas that I share with people looking like people actually live there. My own space is somewhere that I like to keep pretty clean though, so you don't have to worry about weird smells coming from my room or anything. In my previous experience with roommates, I've had those types of people around and it's no fun, so I'll never be that person.

I like my space to be where I relax. I've lived places where since our place stayed relatively clean+ I lived with some social people + I myself like hosting events=having people over a lot. I don't mind that, all I ask is that it's not everyday and all day. Now there are some exceptions I can look over, like a partner who's over a lot, or a close friend, or if you work/have a business that sometimes runs out of our apartment. Shit happens, and that's cool. As long as it's communicated and not invasive to my space then I'm cool.

Besides work related to my major, I have a multitude of skills under my belt which include Photography, Graphic Design, Video Editing, Copywriting, Cinematography, so if you need a roommate with those skills then I'm your person.

I honestly don't know what else to put, but I'm always open to questions if you have any. For now I'll just put my linkedin bio because it seems like a good closer lol.

Rather it be through multimedia mediums, or even action alone, I am more than capable to adapt to the situation, and establish a plan of action. I think my greatest skill is my ability to learn first, then constantly re-tool my approach to develop my skills and to develop and help people around me. I thrive in team-based environments where I can get multiple points of view, and I've found that working with a team is the quickest way to learn, develop, and innovate. Those three things are always my main focuses to anything I take on, whether that be a new job, a new project, or a new day!
