Other areas in Central San Diego that will get you quickly to Downtown or the Beaches are Mission Hills, Mission Valley, Oldtown or Hillcrest, where rent ranges between ~2,400 to $3,000. For more affordable living, you could choose one of the areas in Inland San Diego like Linda Vista, City Heights, North Park, Balboa Park, or Normal Heights where rent will be closer to $2,000. If you want to live on the coast but a bit away from the center of San Diego, there are a few beach towns to consider such as Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas and Del Mar. The range of rent varies widely between $2,000 to $4,000 in those towns.
