I'm single, no children, with extended family on Long Island. I currently work for a BigLaw firm in midtown Manhattan. I work a hybrid schedule, working from home from 10:30am to 10:30pm every Saturday and Sunday. When working from home, I need relative quiet (so I can hear notification chimes for emails, conduct phone calls with no background noise, and concentrate).

I need a smoke free environment (health reasons). I'm "average" at being neat and clean; I prefer to divide and rotate cleaning responsibilities of shared spaces. Depending upon cost, I would consider sharing the cost of a professional cleaning service. I don't share cooking or groceries b/c I have dietary restrictions. I need my own bedroom; I'd prefer my own bathroom (but can coordinate schedules if necessary).

I spend much of my leisure time at home: cooking, reading, working on "projects." I'm very interested in local, regional and national politics (but totally appreciate that most people aren't interested in talking about current issues). I spend a lot of time on my computer. I also like to attend community activities on my days off (Wed-Fri), and I enjoy local sightseeing and exploring. I exercise at home in my bedroom and will make sure I'm not doing so during hours you are sleeping or working from home so I don't impinge on your lifestyle.

I'm seeking a roommate situation to spend less on rent because a) if economy tanks and my firm does lay offs, smaller firms and temp agencies pay far less than my current position and it will be financially difficult to have my own place; b) I need to dramatically increase my monthly savings to build wealth for retirement; c) I want to begin to downsize my personal property and lifestyle in anticipation of retirement. I anticipate I'll retire in 4 to 5 years.
