Looking for a roommate for a long-term lease!
I am a high school biology teacher in the Bronx and a mostly non-practicing licensed attorney (doing some freelance legal work on school breaks). I was an immigration attorney until my job was defunded last year so I went back to teaching high school. I am usually out of the house at least from 7:45 am to 5 pm and sometimes longer hours, so I would be fine with either someone who works out of the house or wfh since I’m mostly home on evenings and weekends.
I like to socialize out of the house, and I travel when I can. I’ve lived in Colombia and been around the world, and some of my other hobbies include my darts league, bar trivia, boxing (just for exercise!) and doing fun and low-cost things around the city. I’ve lived with people from several different countries and cities over the years, which I always enjoy, and am open to doing social things with a roommate if you’d like as well.
I have a cat (Mocha) who is very friendly with people but unfortunately doesn’t like dogs. Another cat could potentially be okay, as she got along with some of my sister’s foster cats in the past and tolerated others from a distance. With people, she will come sit on your lap or chill on the couch with you, so hopefully you like cats as well.
I recently moved out of a Glenwood building on 102nd Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues called Hampton Court. I loved this building and my apartment, and had been there for 6 years, but I was in a 3 bedroom which got too expensive especially when my previous roommate had to return to France. I have all my furniture, enough to fully furnish the apartment, in storage, including a bed which you can have or I can get rid of/sell.
I am staying with family but hope to move back to the city by March 2026. My ideal would be to move back into Hampton Court as I loved my experience there. It is a doorman building with laundry and gym in the building, and there is really good noise insulation so I rarely heard noise from outside or from neighbors. There are some 2 bed/2 bath apartments between $3400 and $4200 there which the building has recommended to me.
Please reach out if you’re interested, especially if you like the idea of Hampton Court. Otherwise I am open to UES, East Harlem (or generally upper Manhattan) and NW Queens as I work in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx and can either drive or take the 6 train.
LGBTQ+ friendly and open to all backgrounds!
| My maximum monthly budget | 2,000 |
| Move in Date | Feb 2026 |
| Lease Duration | 1 Year |
| Age | 34 |
| Occupation | High School Teacher / Licensed Attorney |
| Pets | Cat |
| Hometown | New York, Ny, Usa |
| Education | Jd, Mst |
| Relationship Status | Single |
We think Ilana would be a great roommate! But in case you want to see more…
