Mike R - $1,250/month

Following an accident 20+ year ago, I've undergone more than 33 surgeries with two more planned for this summer. As a result, I can't depend upon the $2,500 a month I've earned from my part-time consulting work to pay my rent.

In other words, for the next 6 - 12 months, I must live on the $3,000 a month I receive in social security benefits alone. Therefore, since I pay $2,035 a month for my one-bedroom apartment, it's imperative that I find a more cost-effective solution ASAP.

Given my age, as well as a fair amount of chronic pain, I'm in bed by 8:30 each night and I enjoy reading, writing, cooking and spending time with great friends. I'm also an active volunteer with my church in feeding and clothing the homeless.
