About Me

Hi I'm Heather. I'm 30 years old and a clinical researcher. I have lived in a very spacious 4 bedroom 1.5 bathroom apartment on the UES for the past 5 years. One of our roommates is moving out and we are looking to fill the room by March 1st. It's an amazing deal at $940/month which includes all utilities besides cable/internet. All the roommates get along well and are pretty easy-going. It is important to us to find someone who is a great fit for our living situation since the apartment is more like a home than a crashpad for us.

Available Room for Rent

Awesome Roommate Wanted for Private Room Util. Included

Three ladies living on the Upper East Side (just over the East Harlem border) are looking for a fun, outgoing roommate to live with them in their 4 bedroom apartment. We want someone who will mesh well with everyone so anyone can apply as we are very friendly and open minded. We are all working professionals in our mid-twenties to mid-thirties and would like to fill the spot with someone within the same age range. We are neat and respectful of each other's property and want a roommate who will help maintain the apartment and will show us and our belongings the same respect that they can expect to receive. We are non-smokers but definitely like to hang out, drink, have occasional parties, and go out together. We are not necessarily looking for someone to be our new best friend but for someone who will at least be friendly and try to make the apartment more like a home than just a crash pad.

The room available for rent is a good size bedroom. It has space for a full size or even a queen bed and dressers, bookshelves, and nightstand. There is also a large closet in the room with two shelves on top. There is a spot in the room for an AC unit to help beat the heat of those hot NYC nights. The room is NOT furnished so you would need to supply that for yourself.

The apartment is a true four bedroom apartment with a kitchen, dining room, living room, 1 full bathroom, and 1 half bathroom. There are also two massive closets for communal storage. The kitchen has a dishwasher and microwave along with the usual items (sink, refrigerator, stovetop, and oven). There is plenty of cabinet space in the kitchen so everyone has a place to store their food. Everyone contributes to cleaning the apartment as well as paying for all of the supplies that are used by everyone in the house (toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, cleaning supplies, etc.). We expect that you will help contribute to the apartment if certain things are needed. The laundry room is located on the first floor of the building so you will never have to drag your heavy laundry through the summer heat or winter snow. There are elevators in the building so bringing large items into the apartment is not too strenuous of a task. There is 24 hour security outside of the building in the courtyard.

The apartment is located at East 101st St. and 1st Ave and is just a short walk to the subway (6 and Q trains) and less than 5 blocks from the more happening spots on the Upper East Side. There are tons of amazing restaurants and bars nearby that make going out and finding things to do relatively easy. The footbridge to the park on Randall’s Island is right down the street and Central Park is only a short distance away also.

Here is the deal:
The room is $938 per month which includes heat and electric. The only other utility we each pay for is cable/Internet (about $40/month per person). We have Verizon Fios, DVR, and a bunch of channels. Therefore, total monthly payment for residing in the apartment will be about $978. In order to obtain the room we would need the first month's rent and one month for the security deposit before moving in. Therefore, we would need $1,876 plus $40 for internet etc. prior to moving in. We also want to see that you are employed or have a viable source of income in order to pay for your portion of the rent. We are looking for a roommate to begin living with us on March 1st. We would have to discuss the date and time of the move in when we meet with you. We would ideally like someone who will stay at least 6 months but a full year is preferred with possibility of extension.

Due to the high volume of responses, we ask that when you respond you include a photo of yourself as well as a brief description of who you are, what you like to do, how old you are, where you are currently employed, favorite cocktail, etc. This is primarily to make sure that you are a real person who might be a good fit for the apartment. Submissions without a photo will likely not be contacted so do your best to get it in there. Wednesday, February 20th and Thursday, February 21st from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm is when we plan to meet with those interested in the apartment. We have different schedules so that really is the only time we can make it work for people to come by. Please also include times within those windows when you are available to come and see the apartment. No pets allowed. Couples do not respond to this ad as you will not be considered. We are looking for one roommate and they will be awesome!
