Looking for a roommate in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens - New York

Sophia T - $1,500/month

About Me

Hi! My name is Sophia. I am a 27 year old freelance theater designer. I recently moved to the city and am looking for a chill roommate (or roommates) to find an apartment with. I am looking for an apartment for a December 1st, 2025 lease.

My ideal apartment:

- no more than a 45 min commute to Times Square (I work most of the time in and around Times Square and do not do well with a terrible commute.

- Private bedroom that is big enough for me to fit a double bed and a large desk. I work from home sometimes and often on the weekends and need enough room to have a good desk.

- I'm fine with a walk-up, but an elevator would be nice :)

- sharing a bathroom with only 1 other person

- laundry in apartment or in building

- good working kitchen (full size oven and stove, full size fridge, dishwasher, sink, enough cabinets for everyone to store more than basic food. I love to cook and cook most of my own meals. I keep a large pantry and will often meal prep on the weekends. I have a lot of cooking supplies that I am happy to share.

- I would love to be able to adopt a cat in the next year so an apartment that allows that would be nice

How I am as a roommate:

- I tend to keep to myself because I work long hours (usually out of the house 9:30am to 7:30pm). I sometimes work from home and often work evenings from home.

- I like having neat shared spaces. I am not a clean freak, but I try to do a general clean of the kitchen and bathroom once a week, and a deeper clean once a month.

- I value practicality over aesthetics when it comes to decor and furniture. If a space doesn't function for those who live in it, its not a good space. Things looking nice is a bonus (though I try to make things nice if I can)

- I am a night owl. I try to maintain a midnight to 8:30 sleep routine, but it doesn't always happen :)

- I am happy to be friends with my roommates, or simply cohabitate. Clear communication, advanced warning about social gatherings at the apartment, and picking up after yourself is mostly what matters to me.

- I love plants and like to have as many as I can in my apartments. I usually have a good track record of keeping them alive. Right now I have 4 medium sized ones.

If you think that we would get along well as roommates, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'd love to grab coffee and chat more.
