I have lived in Astoria all this time and love the fact that this neighborhood is very close to Manhattan and at the same time it gives me the opportunity to rent a specious apartment where I could really feel comfortable and at home. Also there is a huge diversity of nationalities here, amazing restaurants and delicious food to explore. I am currently renting the second room in my absolutely stunning 2-bedroom apartment. This is one of a kind absolutely gorgeous 2-bedroom apartment in one of the best neighborhoods in Astoria - the Ditmars Blvd/Steinway Str area. Large 7-foot windows facing east, west and north allow for plenty of natural light throughout the entire day. The apartment has a beautiful specious kitchen/dining room area with brand new appliances and equally large and bright separate living room. Beautifully finished hardwood floors throughout the whole apartment. Amazing bathroom with 9-foot shower ceiling.
The apartment is located on the 3rd floor of a private house one block away from Ditmars/Steinway. Intercom system, two front doors both with locks, and cameras around the whole perimeter. It is steps away from all the restaurants, bars, shops and stores that Ditmars Blvd has to offer. The brand-new laundry mat is just 2 doors down from our house. Two convenient delis in both corners of our street in addition to a 24/7 Trade Fair Supermarket one block away. N and W train at the Ditmars Blvd station (the last stop of those trains in Astoria)
The apartment is also 10 min away by car from LaGuardia Airport which makes it an ideal home for flight attendants !!!
Your room - specious - 9' / 14' with 7' window facing west. Gorgeous newly finished hardwood floors, and beautiful built-in closet. The room is freshly painted, perfectly cleaned and I have brand new drapes (not shown on the pics) if you wish to use them for the window. See the last 4 pics to get an idea of how the room looks when furnished. The room comes UNFURNISHED.
The room is already available so the moving day can be August 1st or earlier !!!!!
Your roommate, me, European, female, in my 40's who has lived here more than 20 years. New York and Astoria is home. I love the city and the vibrant cultural and social life that offers. I have worked for a major fashion company for almost 17 years and now I work for a high end, 2-Michelin star restaurant in Manhattan. My life has always been very busy and full of many social events and interactions. For that reason I have always treated my home as my sanctuary - a place where I detach, decompress, recharge, read and feel at absolute peace. As a potential roommate you should be looking for similar environment !! This apartment will be a perfect home for someone who loves peaceful environment, who is quiet, polite, respectful and considerate, and busy both with work and with his/her own life.
Looking for a responsible mature person. This is a grown up house not a party place! NO PETS! NO SMOKING! These are my Landlord's requirements so PLEASE if you do have a pet or you do smoke DO NOT RESPOND to this add. I am very honest in what I can and can not have as a roommate!! I expect the same transparency in return.
One must quality of my potential roommate - cleanness. The apartment is spotless (and so is the house.) I LOVE fresh air and the fragrance of nice candles. That's my ideal environment!!!! My perfect roommate is someone who appreciates the same, who does not cook much and ideally has opposite schedule than mine!!!
My days off are Sunday and Monday. The rest of the days I sleep in the AM and go to work around 2:30 PM .... I come back home around midnight - I am out of the house for 10 hours minimum 5 days a week. If you work regular 9-5 job that's great, if you also work in a restaurant, like me, and work either mornings or doubles that's great too, if you're a restaurant manager, bartender server who works Sundays and Mondays then our schedules are perfect opposites and we won't see each other much - this way you enjoy the place on your own and I do the same when I am off.... and all the above goes for any job really.... I've done this for 20 years - having roommates with totally opposite schedule than mine and it has been the ideal way to live together!!!
The rent for the room is $1,300/month. The heat and hot water are included !! We pay separately for electricity, gas, and internet. To move in you will need $1,300 for the first month rent and $1,300 for security deposit which will be returned to you the last day of your stay if the room and the apartment are left in the same pristine condition as they were rented to you.
