I am 44 years old, single, quiet, respectful, tidy housemate who is emotionally mature, kind, grounded, and communicative who pay bills on time. Liberal leaning, love a good movie or tv show, cooking, gardening, birdwatching, crafts, science, being a critical thinker, playing guitar, reading books, seeing stand-up comedy and live music.
I have owned and lived in this home for 17 years. I have enjoyed the company of former housemates who were my close friends. While I’m not expecting us to be best friends, I do expect to get along, be cordial and treat each other with the utmost of respect and consideration so we're both comfortable sharing space.
I work freelance in commercial productions which usually has me away from home 5 days a week. However, I am currently trying to transition back into a work-from-home job so that I can spend more time with my aging dogs.
Housemate requirements: Must pass a background and credit check, be respectful of common areas, contribute equally to housework, and love animals — you’ll have two very cute and chill housemates who are easy to love. If you’re home when I am not, I’d appreciate someone comfortable letting the dogs out into the gated pen in the backyard.
Occasional help with pet care is helpful if I’m away for a few days (rare) - but I can also find alternatives if need be. They’re geriatric but healthy, extremely calm, and wear diapers to avoid messes in the house when we're away. They nap most of the day, haven’t heard either bark in well over a year, and they love affection.

Description:
Looking for a female housemate to share a single-story 3 bedroom / 1 bathroom home with me and my two Cairn Terriers, Mötley (18) and Ernie (17). We’re located at 8th & Federal in the Villa Park / Barnum Park neighborhood.
About the house & location:
- Great backyard with a patio with grill, hardscaped backyard with garden, raised planter bed (feel free to plant your own veggies!), flagstone sitting area with Adirondack chairs and a Solo Stove, and tons of bird and squirrel activity — it’s a deluxe spot to spend your summer mornings and evenings.
- One block west of Federal, but the neighborhood itself is very quiet. Walking distance to bus stops along Federal and the Decatur-Federal and Knox light-rail stations (about 10-15 minutes).
Easy access to I-25 and 6th Ave, plus a short bike ride to downtown via the Lakewood Gulch Trail to the South Platte River Trail.
- I have many thriving houseplants thanks to east, south, and west-facing windows. Rainbow window film casts soft rainbows through the house year-round.
- A/C and forced-air heat (Nest thermostat).
- Alexa-enabled Philips Hue smart bulbs throughout the home, customizable through the app so you can set your own scenes, moods, and lighting vibes in your bedroom.
- Dedicated parking spot in the driveway + ample street parking on Grove St.
- Stacked front-loading washing machine and dryer located in bathroom.
Living room is fully furnished and equipped. I have all the basic kitchen necessities but open to anything useful you wish to add. You’ll also have cupboard and fridge space, a place to hang a bike in the garage, and reasonable small-item storage (think a few small tubs or seasonal belongings).
About one-third of the garage is my gym: squat rack with 615 lbs of iron plates, adjustable incline/decline bench, adjustable dumbbells (5–80 lbs), leg press/hack squat machine, cable functional trainer (88-lb weight stacks), EZ-curl bar, various cable attachments, resistance bands, box jump, and a 45-degree hyperextension bench. You have full access as long as equipment is treated with respect and everything is re-racked properly.
About the room:
- Middle-sized bedroom ~137 sq ft (8’ high ceilings)
- Closet: 2’7“ deep × 7’4“ wide × 8’ high
- Directly across the hall from the bathroom
- One north-facing window
Your room has space for bedroom furniture, ideal for someone without a lot of stuff or lives light - there's no room to incorporate other personal items or furniture elsewhere in the house
Additionally:
I have a third bedroom with a small closet that I use as an overflow pantry since it’s the only other closet in the house. It is a smaller guest room, but I’d be happy to let you use it as a separate workspace if you work from home and wanted a dedicated work area - that would come at an additional cost, which we could negotiate during our initial Zoom meeting.
I will have a Rental Agreement for us to sign that states your tenancy is month-to-month with 60-days notice to vacate on either side, and outlines basic household and shared living expectations. Less than 60-days notice to vacate is acceptable, so long as your needs are expressed timely and productively.
