Ed is one of the best roommates I have ever had. We lived together for one year after knowing each other through mutual friends for a few years. As a roommate and person he is open and kind. He anticipated my needs by proactively asking questions about how I and my other roommate approached conflict or specific needs around the house. He was receptive to feedback. He was open and kind, asking questions about my life and day while also respecting personal space and other boundaries. Another friend and I had already lived together for a year and decided to renew our lease, with Ed replacing a previous roommate. I was afraid that it might to be difficult to incorporate a new personality into the dynamic, or that Ed would feel afraid to be himself knowing that the culture of the space predated him. My fears quickly disappeared. Ed is secure in who he is and able to be himself easily in a new space. He does not dominate a space but is respectful of others and sincere in wanting to get know them as they are. I would highly recommend him as a roommate to others. He was tidy in common areas around our home. He is an excellent chef and baker (and accommodating toward dietary restrictions!), gifted in making recipes to scale for large groups, and he is eager to share the food that he makes.He was prompt in paying all bills and rent. He was generous beyond every expectation, sharing books and artwork and even allowing me to borrow his hair clippers. I cannot speak highly enough of his warmth and curiosity towards all people, roommates or otherwise.
