About Me

Hello! Nice to meet you, potential roomie.

My name is Jake - I lived in New York previously from 2013-2020 but moved back to Canada during the pandemic to be closer to family...and now I'm moving back.

I'm an attorney, but I'm very much not the typical Type A sort. I'm quiet, laidback and tend to go with the flow (though I definitely open up once I get comfortable with you).

I love board games, music, and trash TV (but very much down with prestige shows like Succession, Insecure, and RuPaul's Drag Race). Not to toot my own horn, but I'm a very good cook - I'm happy to meal prep for the both of us. I tend to skew vegetarian during the week but don't get me wrong, I love a good hunk of beef.

My main hobby is music - I'm a guitarist, but rest assured I will be quiet and practice during normal hours through headphones. No need to worry about loud amps and the riff from Smoke on the Water being repeated ad nauseam.

Looking for a place to stay starting in January as my wife is still completing her degree in Canada and New York is expensive. I'm hoping to become good friends with any potential roommate, so if that's not something you're interested in, tread elsewhere.

Move in Date May 2022
Lease Duration 6 Months
Age 31
Occupation Attorney
Hometown Vancouver, Bc, Canada
Education Law Degree

We think Jake’s room is fantastic! But in case you want to see more…

Available Room for Rent

Sublet in a KILLER apartment through end of year

Hello! I'm looking to sublet my room in my 2 bed, 1 bath apartment in Bushwick. We are located on a quiet street close to 3 different train lines that could get you into the city in 30 minutes! There are some of the BEST cafes, bars, and restaurants in our area, and super close to some great specialty and grocery stores. We're also a 10min walk to Maria Hernandez Park if you need fresh air and foliage. I've lived in this neighborhood for nearly 3 years and absolutely love it!

The apartment itself is pretty cozy, perfect for chill evenings after a long day or night out. Sorry to say it's not great for entertaining large groups, but the surrounding night life (like House of Yes, Elsewhere, and Wonderville) surely makes up for that!

Looking for someone to sign a lease beginning on 5/1/22 through the end of the year. If you and my roommate (who I can vouch for is the best I've had in the city) get along, of course there's the possibility of renewal!

Apologies, but no pets!

The Bedroom:
-Floor to ceiling windows, with a glass door that leads you out to your private balcony (yes, you read that right!)
-Great closet space with shelves and storage that goes up to the ceiling
-Can accommodate a queen bed easily!

Amenities:
-Central AC (heating & cooling) in every room
-In unit washer & dryer
-Dishwasher
-Rooftop access
-Fully furnished living room w/ widescreen TV & PS4

Trains:
-M, Central Ave (5min walk)
-J, Kosciuszko St (10min walk)
-L, Dekalb Ave (10min walk)

ABOUT ME:

I'm a lawyer who is moving out to live with my wife who is moving back to the US from Canada, and hence why I need to get out of the lease early.

ABOUT MY ROOMMATE:

A single guy in his early 30s, currently working from home as a senior ad ops associate at Mindshare. He keeps the apartment quite clean and will usually do any chores that need doing without bothering my roommates, but expects you to do your fair share as well. He is easy to get along with and mostly keeps to himself, but I've had great conversations with him (much like me, he opens up once you get to know him!). When it comes to apartment-related issues, he is very accommodating and communicative. Dare I say he's the ideal roommate? I'd say so.

He is LGBTQ+ and 420 friendly, but will ask that we smoke outside since the smell tends to permeate throughout the apartment at times. He works from home and is in the apartment all week, but am usually out on weekends. He loves watching movies, exploring the city, and writing!

Looking for a roommate who is:
-Responsible for themselves and common areas
-Considerate
-Clean, but not a neat freak!
-Not a party animal/doesn't bring the party home

RENTAL REQUIREMENTS
-One month + security deposit ($1350 each)

-Utilities (including internet) around $100-200.
