Available Room for Rent

Room available in the Washington Square area of Brookline!

Hi! We’re two roommates looking for a third roommate to sublet/add to our 3BR/1B lease starting 9/1!

Location: We’re just off the heart of Washington Square in Brookline, on the border of Brighton. We’re right in between the B (Washington Street) and C (Washington Square) green line (~5 minute walk), and about ten minutes from the D line (Beaconsfield). The Publick House, Athan’s Bakery (Brookline), and Barcelona (Brookline), are within a five-minute walk. We're also a half mile from Allston and a mile from Coolidge Corner!

The apartment: 3 bedrooms/1 bathroom, with a huge living room and kitchen. We also have a screened-in porch toward the back of the apartment where we have two chairs and a little DIY garden! The building is actually a converted townhouse, so there are only four floors. The laundry room is shared between a few apartment buildings but is private for residents (we have our own key), and all of the neighbors are super nice. Rent is split evenly among all three of us at $1000/month, and utilities fall to an average of about $70/month, although that can vary by season. Ideally, you’d be able to pay last month’s rent up front, but we could work out a plan if that doesn’t work for you!

The room: The room up for rent is easily the largest (both of ours are around 16x16, so it’s larger than that), and gets tons of sunlight. The closet for the room is directly outside of it. It will likely come unfurnished, but the rest of the apartment (living room and kitchen) are already all furnished!

The roommates: I’m a research assistant at MGH, and Liz is in her second year of her Master’s program in Communication Sciences & Disorders at Emerson. We’re very good (we think) about running the line between outgoing/introverted – we hang out pretty frequently, but also recognize when people need space. Normally we would note that we run crazy hours (Liz being a grad student, and I’m usually in theater rehearsals after work), but we know that this fall will likely look a bit different.

Who we’re looking for: As long as you’re tidy (or keep your mess to your room) and respectful, that’s really all we’re looking for :) For health reasons, we also need to have a nonsmoking apartment.

A note on COVID: We both work with vulnerable populations and one of us is high risk, so we’d appreciate that whoever is interested in the apartment follows guidance related to covid/social distancing and takes precautions seriously. Obviously, communication is key, but this is important for us to establish while finding a roommate.

If this all sounds good to you, we’d love to virtually meet you and see if personalities match/if you have any questions! We’re not comfortable having people in the apartment yet, but would be happy to share more photos/a video we have!
