I am looking for a roommate to share my three bedroom, one bath home with a large backyard, detached garage and long driveway located four blocks from Victory Park. Room available is 12 ft by 12 ft, is available furnished or not, is freshly painted and has a lot of natural light. There are mini blinds and / or drapes for windows available. The house is designed to share and is fully furnished including a TV specifically designated for the roommates use. The common areas (living room, dining room and kitchen) are bright and airy and maintain some of their original charm such as original wood flooring, plaster walls, and built-ins. There are gardening and professional indoor cleaning services twice monthly, a fully stocked kitchen with lots of counter space and appliances among them a gas stove, dishwasher and microwave. I would like to use the third bedroom as a shared office space. There is a washer and dryer in the garage as well as some limited storage space available.
I am a 71-year-old retired physical therapist and have lived here for 8 years, both alone and with roommates. I have found it is best when I'm living here with just one other person. I have two adult sons and their families living in the area and friends I visit normally at their houses . That works out well because I no longer have to put on the family dinners on holidays and other get-togethers; I can be the guest. I am pretty much a low key, quiet homebody. I enjoy making things like jewelry and mosaics, reading and training/ being with my dog. Away from home, I like volunteering in literacy programs, teaching people English, how to read, and how to pass the GED/ get a high school diploma. I also volunteer and am active in politics, such as working as a poll worker for elections for many years, registering people to vote, and being a census worker.
I have found this neighborhood to be safe, quiet, friendly, and mostly well maintained. It is also very much a pet friendly neighborhood! I have a 14-month-old puppy who is learning how to be a very good dog as all his predecessors were. He is shy and nervous upon meeting people--and cats-- initially but soon warms up. He has never met a dog he did not want to play with and would love a companion.
