Hey, I’m Elaine! I’m looking for apartment rental options in the Greater Philadelphia area with 1 or more roommates and I'm hoping to move in as soon as possible. I'll update my bio as soon as I get employed. I currently completed 1 interview to be a solar installer and completed 7 other applications. Additionally, I have enough savings from family gifts and excess college financial aid to live on my own, unemployed, for 3 months if rent is $800 a month.
I expect my work schedule to be like a typical solar installer's schedule: Start at 6:30 AM and work until whenever the job is done. My monthly housing budget is $800, since I'm seeking a solar installer job whose minimum salary is $16/hour.
A little more about me is that I was born and raised in Philadelphia. My friends say that I'm kind, polite, open-minded, and understanding. My personality type is an ENFP-T. I enjoy meditating, learning how to astral project, watching Netflix, listening to podcasts, playing video games, and volunteering. I love spending time in busy, public spaces, such as cafes, parks, and clubs. I am fully COVID-19 vaccinated. I’ve had experience living with a roommate as a college student from 2017 to 2019. Then I lived in a single dorm room from 2019 to 2021 because single rooms were cheaper at the time and I wanted to save some money. Now, I am taking online classes to finish my major in Sustainability by April 2022.
I wake up at 3:30 AM and sleep around 8:30 PM, however, I'm great at being quiet so as not to disturb anyone, and I can sleep through anything.
I'm willing to share a bedroom. I do not mind guests or partying. I drink about once a month. I don't smoke and unfortunately I’m not comfortable with living with smokers.
I usually have to clean my room weekly. However, I'm trying to be very minimalistic, or be as low-waste and sustainable as possible. For example, I have a minimalist wardrobe, and below, you’ll find a picture of all my belongings in 2 bins and a duffel bag. Also, I enjoy using apps to manage my chores and everything I need to do, because I remember tasks if they’re written down. (And when I receive tasks through these apps, they help me have fun and take things less personally). Examples of such apps include Tody or LoveNudge for friendships.
I also prefer to automate my payments towards my rent, shared expenses, and bills. I figured out a way to do that between 2 people: with Honeydue, automatic deductions from my checking account could go into a Honeydue joint banking account. That joint banking account can then pay all shared expenses between me and my roommate. I think it’d be great to try that out.
It'd be cool if my roommates were familiar with non-violent communication or being non-judgemental (in which they ask me to change my behavior, instead of expressing negative opinions about my behavior). I will never judge you or see you as anything other than a complete human worthy of life like any other human. We’ll get along just fine with communication :) I can’t wait to get to know you more.
