Available Room for Rent

private room and bath for $625/mo + utilities available from Feb 1st - Holly Hall St

Hello,

I am looking for a roommate to share a 2B2B apartment near the TMC (Richmond Manor). You will have a bedroom and a bathroom all to yourself. The rent is $625/mo + utilities. The lease is from now to Feb 28th, 2027. Viewing starts now. If you are interested, please read the following to find out more and I look forward to hearing from you!

About me
I am a researcher/clinician in her mid-30s working at the TMC. I am friendly, quiet, and responsible. I have rented for 10+ years and I have always had roommates. I always have great relationship with my roommates. I became friends with many of them, but I am also fine with just being friendly and respecting your boundaries.

I am clean. I clean my personal space and the shared space at least weekly.

On weekdays, I wake up at around 4:30am and leave for work at around 9am (sometimes I work from home). I cook at around 5:00pm and go to bed at around 8:30pm. On weekends, I am mostly at home and doing the laundry, meal prepping, etc. Because we each have our own bedroom and bathroom, you should not hear me for the most part. You may hear me when I am in the kitchen, but it should not be too loud. And if you are in the habit of wearing ear plugs, you will probably hear nothing.

I believe it is important to have good communication with my roommates. I am quite flexible and always prioritize problem-solving when it comes to issues.

I am really into art. I love going to art museums, galleries, and theaters. I also love to read. I bike, run, and do some light exercise at home.

About my cat
I have a 7-year-old cat. She is my family. Everybody who has met her adores her.

My cat has some minor behavioral issues. She likes to chew on things such as cables, tapes, and plastic. She will swallow small indigestible things such as buttons, foam, and floss. She has been to the hospital and had a surgery to have things removed from her stomach. I have always replaced things she breaks for my roommates, such as charging cables. I also have protectors for your cables. That said, it would probably work best if:

1) You have a habit of closing the door to your bedroom and bathroom, so she has no access to your belongings.
2) You do not leave too much clutter, especially foam, in the shared space.
3) You can be a bit careful when opening the apartment door, so that she does not elope. (If the door needs to be opened for a long time, say, for moving, I can certainly put her in my room so she cannot run away).

I know this can feel like a lot. I wish to be upfront about it so that you only consider renting if you feel comfortable with this. I have had roommates who have lived with pets all their life as well as roommates who have never lived with a pet, and things have typically gone well with a little adjustment.

About the apartment
I have been living here for 2 years and can share with you my experience:

- The apartment is on the first floor. It is fully furnished. There is in unit w/d.
- We are responsible for electricity and internet. Electricity typically comes to $40-60/person. We are currently on a promotion price for the internet which is $12.5/person. The promotion may end soon and the internet cost may come to $30-40/person if we do not get another promotion somewhere.
- We have one parking spot that is just at the back of the building (<1 min walk). It is not covered. I do not own a car, so the parking spot is all yours.
- In the two years that I have been living here, we occasionally had no water or no hot water (I keep a record of this). Most of the times it lasted just a few hours.
- In the two years that I have been living here, we have not had flooding. This area is not typically flooded to my knowledge.
- The apartment building is by the street. In my two years of living here, I have never heard of break-ins. I have never had a package stolen.
- We do not have roaches, rats, etc. in the apartment. Occasionally, bugs from outside find their way into the apartment, which is inevitable in Houston. It happens probably less than 1x/month.
- The residency is reasonably clean, but not perfect. I do see litters, but overall, I find it tolerable.

About you
I hope you are kind to animals. My cat is very important to me and while you do not have to be the biggest fan of her, I hope you can be kind to her and do not knowingly do things that put her into danger.

I hope you are reasonably clean so that we do not invite roaches and other wild beings into the apartment.

I am quite flexible when it comes to people’s lifestyle, beliefs, orientation, habits, etc.

The landlord has expectations that you do not smoke in the apartment.

I will run a background check and request to see your paystubs to ensure that you can pay the rent.
