I was born in Taft, CA on May 26, 1947. My father was an oil worker and was killed in an industrial accident when I was 4 years old. My mother received a settlement from a trial about the accident and sold AVON until 1953 when she was encouraged by a cousin to move to San Diego, CA which offered better schools. She worked as a beautician in several salons before opening a salon of her own in the converted attached garage of our home. I graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in June, 1965. I then went on to the University of California, San Diego where I graduated In June 1969 with a Bachelor Degree in Molecular Biology. To avoid being drafted into the Vietnam War I pursued an interest in religious studies at the American Baptist Seminary in Covina, CA which gave me a deferment. In December, 1971 I answered an LA Times advertisement for a Technician at an undisclosed location. I was interviewed and subsequently hired by Dr. Peter K. Vogt at the University of Southern California, School of Medicine whose laboratory worked on Cancer Research. I worked for Dr. Vogt for 22 years eventually becoming the manager of his laboratory and then the manager of the Department of Microbiology when Dr. Vogt became the Chairman. My mother closed her salon in 1978 and came to live with me in South Pasadena. My mother's sister came to visit us during her vacations for several years and finally relocated from Illinois to the apartment across the landing from our apartment. My mother died unexpectantly of heart failure in December 1995. I took care of my Aunt during her declining years until her death in 2014. I am a member of the Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena and my involvement keeps me busy. I have sung in the 150 member Sanctuary Choir since 1984 and gone on ministry tours to Europe, Argentina and many cities in the United States. I have also been the curator of the churches two Pipe Organs, the largest of which has more than 7,500 pipes. I have recently completed the publication of the latest annual pictorial directory for the choir.

I am a friendly single man retired after 37 years in Research and Administration at USC Medical School. I am seeking a mature male roommate to share on a 50/50 basis an upstairs two-bedroom one bath apartment in South Pasadena with views of the San Gabriel Mountains. The kitchen is fully furnished with a four-burner gas stove; large french-door refrigerator freezer; and dishwasher. The dining room is also furnished and there is a large capacity wall air conditioner between the dining and living rooms. The living room has an east facing large bay window and also contains a studio piano. The unfurnished bedroom that is available is 204 square feet (10.7ft X 18ft) plus an 18 square foot (4ft X 4.5ft) walk-in closet. There are west and south facing windows in the room and a unit air conditioner in the south window. The month to month rent was just raised in January to $2,260 so it will be stable until the end of the year. The utilities include Cable from Dish with a connection in the bedroom; 5G internet and Wi-Fi from Spectrum; Electricity from SCEdison and Gas for cooking, hot water and heating from SCGas. For 2025 the average cost for all utilities was $260/month. Therefore the total cost is about $2,520/month or $1,260 for each roommate.
