I believe in getting everything out in the open bluntly at the beginning even if it’s awkward I believe in full disclosure and just blunt communication from the get-go because personally, I am not a picky roommate. I’m pretty easy and I go with the flow not much bothers me, but what does bother me is if I sense that there’s an unspoken rule that I’m unaware of and not following that could be upsetting your roommate and they might not share that so I like to at the very beginning just put everything out in the open down to the nitty-gritty about what the expectations are what their responsibilities are and get it all out when they open up the beginning and you’ll have no problem complying with that and it will make my life so much happier and easier, but I don’t like people coming into my private space and I wouldn’t go into my roommates private space. I don’t like loud parties with a bunch of people, especially if I’m not welcome at that gathering without a bit of notice before hand I like to have chores responsibility charts, so no trash it’s left in the abyss who is responsible for this and I don’t love feeling like calming spaces are public spaces. I like to look at common areas as joint spaces but areas that we both keep clean and don’t overtake. I sometimes have a bit of insomnia and might snack late at night, but I won’t make any noise. I don’t really like if a roommate has a live boyfriend who isn’t contributing to rent especially if the bathroom is shared but love is the best thing on earth so I have absolutely no problem with any roommate having a boyfriend and having them spend the night as long as the common area remains a common area and I would ideally like to be socially with her roommate and do activities together, explore the area, but definitely respecting each other‘s work personal and private times it would be great to get along and so well I do need my alone time. I think everyone does and I am 1000% OK if you have a pet or an animal or any rule that really irks you if it’s not followed, I don’t mind that I would definitely like to know ahead of time though so that I can fly with it or if it’s something that I know that I won’t be able to save us to trouble. He also sometimes shower late at night and I do generally like to keep my apartment clean, especially the common areas, but if you’re a little messy, I don’t fall for it and I don’t mind cleaning up a bit after my roommate.
