Hi, I'm a software engineer that works from home. I've had many roommates throughout the years and know what I like to see in one:

I like each of us taking on our own responsibilities around the place, e.g. I always handle the trash, you always handle the vacuum, etc.

We don't have to be friends, but I like touching base a couple times a week. I make noise sometimes and I expect you'll make noise sometimes, we just need to respect each other's sleep schedules. I might have friends come over once a week or so, and I expect you will too.

There are exceptions of course to all of these! Understanding each other's lives and making compromise is part of being a good roommate.

I'll be up front with some things that could be problems:

I have an acoustic guitar and I will practice and sing in my room from time to time. It's not very loud, I play softer songs, but perhaps that's an issue.

I also love cooking, and I'm going to occasionally leave small messes in the kitchen. I'm absolutely not a slob, but sometimes after working on a cooking project for an hour or more you don't feel like immediately cleaning. I would love to share the food I make with you as well! If you give me your honest opinion to make me a better cook then perhaps I'll make you food more often ;)
