About Me

**Update: now looking with one other person! Still open to making groups :)

Hi there! My name is Aisha (she/her). I’m from central Virginia, but spent four years in the SF Bay Area for my undergraduate degrees. Since my college graduation in 2020, I have been working remotely in homeless service management through an AmeriCorps VISTA service year. I plan to move to NYC during August 2021 to begin my full-time studies at NYU Wagner to attain a Master’s in Urban Planning. I plan to also hold a part-time research assistant position or internship during the school year as well.

On weekends, I typically spend my days exploring new neighborhoods, learning to longboard, embroidering or knitting while watching TV, and catching up with friends over lunch or dinner. Pre-pandemic, I also loved attending shows and finding free events throughout my community. Over the past several months, I've taken conscious steps to reduce my environmental footprint (eating less red meat, timed showers, reusing glass jam jars as drinking glasses, reducing extraneous purchases on clothing/gadgets, etc.) I'm far from 'year's-worth-of-trash-fits-in-one-jar' level, but I've found that on top of the environmental considerations, the small changes I've made so far have saved me money as well! I'd love to live with someone who shares a similar outlook on the environment/consumption.

I lived with roommates all throughout my undergrad, so I am not new to sharing a space! I've found success with previous roommates through clear and empathetic communication, checking in with each other, and having a mutual understanding over which items are shared vs. personal. I am also a big proponent of shared chores, such as taking turns with cleaning the bathroom. Overall, I hope to find someone who shares my values of openness, kindness, and cooperation!

Thank you for reading this far, and excited to get to know you!
