Room for rent in Argay - East Portland, Portland

Dee M - $1,300/month

About Me

I'm obsessed with being the best father I can possibly be. I don't think about much else these days. I'm a clown, even when I'm not feeling very gleeful. It's a coping mechanism; blame Gen-X. I like cooking and film and nature and storytelling and qrt and comedy and cartoons (the kid) and video games (the inner kid). I shouldn't step on your toes much, and I solemnly swear to not dump out my trauma/drama in front of you like I'm a purse at customs.

Available Room for Rent

Portland, Maine

ATTENTION: The house is not completely unfurnished! The pictures are of a house in the same community. They’re identical, but mirrored, and the place is so cluttered right now that I can’t show proper pictures. I’ll break down what is here in a bit, but where are my manners?

Hi. I’m Dee, and I’ll be living alone in this house as of July 1st. I just received word two days ago, and I definitely need a roommate.

I’m a cleaner, and I work evenings. I’m 41, and I’d prefer a rommate who’s older. If you’re a serious minded student, you’ll certainly be considered.

Also, I have a daughter. She’s five, and will be spending half of her life here. I’ll be taking care of her during the day, sometimes at her mother’s house and sometimes at mine, and her mother will have her after 5:00 p.m. most nights. I’ll be leaving for work after 5:00, Monday through thursday, and possibly on Fridays. I’ll have a weekend day with her, as well, though I hope we won’t spend too much of that day at home.

The town home is 1040 ft. There’s a washer dryer hookup, and it has off Street parking. It’s in a beautiful neighborhood. The maintenance staff is the friendliest, too. It’s within walking distance to the commercial District of Gorham. You’ll have plenty of closet space. It’s quiet, relaxed, and it feels good.

I have no objection to a cat, if you’re willing to pay the pet deposit and rent. It isn’t super long-term, as my lease will be up in February. We may extend, if you’re agreeable to it, or not.

The room is a proper size; we fit a California King bed, two nightstands, one long and one tall dresser, and two hampers in it with enough space to walk around. It also has its own closet for hanging clothes with a shelf. You’ll have the upstairs bathroom, as well. Unfortunately, we have to share the bathtub, but the rest of the bathroom will be yours. A sink and under sink cabinet, a medicine cabinet, a toilet of course, and a linen closet.

I’ll have a couch, an entertainment center, a chef’s rack, and that’s about it for larger furniture. I aim to remedy what I’m lacking as quickly as possible, but in the order of necessity. I’m happy to be recorded acknowledging that any furniture you bring in is your own, and we can certainly set up a roommate contract.

I’ll have most of what you need to get by. Shower curtains, coffee maker, rice cooker, plates bowls and cutlery, cups, Brita pitcher, food processor and that kind of stuff. On such short notice, I’m not exactly sure of everything, but I’m certain that it will work.

The $1,300 is for half of the rent as well as half the utilities.

I’m quiet, respectful, and I have no interest in dating at this point in my life. Your sex and gender identity is no bar. I’m just as happy to share the space with a woman as a man.

I’ll likely worry more about my child bothering you than my child will actually bother you. I enjoy cooking, nature, video games with a Bluetooth earbud, and reading. I am always in the market for a new friend, but we could be politely distant if you prefer. We could remain practically strangers. That may happen anyway, but the potential is there.

On the subject of friends, no more than two would be permitted at a given time. 9:00 p.m. carries a sound curfew; this rule isn’t mine. I’m relatively new to the area, as of yet I have no friends to invite. If I do so, I will abide by the same rules. I’m not taking you on to live with me, this house will be half yours as long as you are on the lease, regardless of who got here first.

Time is of the essence, and I’m happy to show you around. Please Overlook the mess, it’s not gross, but it is a cluster. I look forward to meeting you. Have a great day, and if I’m not your cup of tea, good luck out there.
