About Me

Hi! I'm an aspiring playwright who lives in Jersey City so I can keep close to the New York theater scene. I've had productions and readings of my plays in a number of theaters across the country. To make a living, I teach High School English for a boys' school in upstate NJ. I love skiing and biking and all things cultural. I'm mostly quiet and neat. I'm very attentive to respecting my roommate's space and letting people do their thing, but also totally down with hanging out together, if that strikes our mood. I love the neighborhood where I live and I'd love to share this space with the right person.

Available Room

Michael John McGoldrick

I have a bedroom available for rent in this shared apartment (3 people total), located in the Grove Street section of Jersey City. The rent is $990/month + utilities, which only include internet and gas/electricity (the landlord pays for water). Dimensions of the bedroom are 10 x 10 1/2 feet. As you can see from the pictures, there is a lot of common space - a comfortable living room, a television area and a huge kitchen. Tenant would share a bathroom with one other person (the third person has a bedroom with a private bath). Closet in the room is 4 feet in width. Move-in date is 2/15.

The location is a 10-minute walk to the Grove Street PATH station and a 13-minute walk to the Newport PATH. Very convenient. Restaurants, coffee shops, bars, parks, supermarkets, gyms are all within walking distance. I'm a quiet, easy-going roommate who is looking for a nice person to share this space with me and my other roommate. I really love living in this neighborhood. I hope you'll come to love it as much as I do.

There's a washer and dryer on the premises, which is awesome. The apartment also has one parking space allotted for the three of us, so we can take turns sharing - otherwise, it's street parking. That's usually not a big problem before 7 pm. After that, you may have to drive a few blocks away.

Prospective tenants must sign the lease and pay a security deposit equal to one month's rent. The landlord will require you to show proof of employment and to undergo a credit check ($50 processing fee for this). The apartment is the top floor of a house. The landlord lives downstairs with his family. He is a nice guy and has always been attentive with repairs and that sort of thing.
