I work in higher education in international admissions, so I travel for about 35-40% of the year. It’s an exciting and delightfully exhausting job that fits right with my personality, as I have been travelling since I was toddler and I enjoy meeting new people. Because of my travels, I have picked favorite foods and found ways to make them at home (yes, I cook for me and friends). When I am not traveling, I am watching something on TV, Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime or reading a book involving creations and/or perpetuations of systems of oppression within a US context. I may throw some shade, too, but within reason.

Are you fresh and educated? Do you enjoy central air and heat? Do love having a washer and dryer in unit? Are you someone who understands that “read” has TWO meanings?
If you answered “yes” to all of these questions, you’re probably who I am looking for! I’m a young professional who lives in a newly redone apartment in Pilsen and my awesome roommate is moving, as he accepted a great job out in the burbs.
The apartment is a smaller three bedroom with one bathroom, about a 8-minute walk from the 18th Pink Line station and about 10 minutes from the Damen Pink Line. The Cermak 21 bus is a block away and the Ashland 9 bus and the Blue Island 60 bus (both 24-hour buses) are about two blocks away. If you are someone who drives, I-55 and I-90/I-94 are within a 10-minute drive from the apartment and I-290 is about 15 minutes away. Street parking on 21st Place is free, and a number of the surrounding blocks also have free street parking.
Inside, there’s a full kitchen with beautiful stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher, and cute bathroom with grey textured tile and standing shower with modern glass sliding doors. The third bedroom is used a media room that doubles as guest room and includes additional storage. And yes, there is washer/dryer in-unit and central air and heat for those hot Chicago summers and the notoriously cold Chicago winters. Speaking of weather outside, there is also a pretty spacious balcony with a view of the neighborhood.
The room has a fairly sized closet and will include a twin bed. The new roommate will bring anything else they need to feel at home.
Rent for the room is $697.50 per month, but if you prefer a more even number and utilities included (as in gas, electric, cable and wireless internet) it will be $800 per month. To move in, you would pay first and last month’s rent. The lease ends April 30, 2018. No pets and no smoking.
