Available Room for Rent

New Roommate Wanted By October 2025

Basic Info:
My current roommate is moving out when our current lease is up in October 2025.
Rent would be about 950$ a month, with other bills (utilities, power, internet) coming to an estimated 200$ more on top of that. This is the 50/50 split amount, total rent for the unit is currently at $1800+ starting next lease.

It is a 2-story townhouse in a building that shares walls with 3 other units. so 4 units per building. Both bedrooms are upstairs along with the full bathroom, and downstairs is the kitchen, living area, garage, and half-restroom (toilet and sink).

There is no built-in AC, but there is floorboard heating in the bedrooms and living room, in addition to a gas fireplace downstairs. We have not used the floorboard heating in our 3+ years of renting here and use the fireplace sparingly since it contributes greatly to the energy bill.

The down stairs is furnished with a couch, large chair, coffee table, and dining table+chairs already, but you'll have to furnish your bedroom. It's not the most aesthetically cohesive set of furniture, and I am very open to more collaborative decorating.

Parking:
According to the property managers, we are given "two parking spaces". Inside the Parking Garage and the parking spot right in front of our garage. The way this actually works out is that during the week my roommate takes the guaranteed parking sport in front of the garage during the work week and I take any open visitor parking available, and over the weekend we switch. We can see what our schedules look like and adjust as need, no worries.

Pet Situation:
I have one indoor cat, but you can keep him out of your room easily. It would take some time for him to adjust to a new roommate, too. NO OTHER PETS. Exception could be made for small pets in their own aquariums/cage, but as far as another cat or dog, my cat is kind of an a-hole and does not get along with sharing space like that. I have lived with people with other pets and it made for a very tense environment between the pets.

Logistics:
Bill paying is currently split between me and my roommate. Rent and Utilities have to paid to the office via check or money order or cash, no electronic options currently available. I handle the power bill payments online and we simply would exchange texts letting each other know how much is owed for our respective 50% of the bills.

The only other payment(s) we split are shared household purchases, such as Costco toilet paper, trash bags, dish soap, etc.

ALL FOOD AND DRINK BELONGS TO THE PERSON WHO PURCHASED IT, unless it is directly specified that it's "for sharing". But also if you need to use something for a meal, just ask and I'll probably say "yes". No labels, just know what you bought and what you didn't and if you're unsure, just text or ask.

As far as chores/errands, 80% of it is just going to be basic cleaning up after yourself like an adult. I try and give the kitchen a solid wipe down every weekend, along with vacuuming the downstairs. The big blind spot right now is cleaning the bathrooms, since my current roommate doesn't do that very frequently and I get bad headaches every time
I do since I'm fairly sensitive to the cleaning chemicals. But like most of this, this is more than open to discussion and evaluation.

If you're having friends, family, or anyone over, just give as much heads up as possible.

I am not a huge partier, my home tends to be where I like to decompress and chill, so don't come looking for a party house here.

Personal Info:
I work a standard office job, Mon-Fri. My usual routine is to wake up and leave in as little time as possible, often out the door by 7:30am or earlier. Once I get home I got for a jog for 40-60 minutes then shower, make dinner, and relax/work for the rest of the night. I tend to be more of a night owl when I can.

Given "the times we live in" I will say upfront that I have lefty politics. Obviously I'm not saying this because roommates have to agree on everything, but I would prefer to not live with someone with diametrically opposed values and I think most people would share that perspective.

I have friends and family across the state, and previously some friends from Spokane spent the night over a weekend and one friend occasionally comes over for some low-energy hangout evenings when he has the time off of work. But other than that I'm not regularly inviting people over.

And I think that's the extent of the info I wanted to share upfront. Apologies if it's an overflow, but I wanted to provide as much relevant information as possible upfront.
