Looking for a roommate in Westside / South Bay, The Verdugos, Orange County, San Gabriel Valley, Ventura, Inland Empire - Los Angeles

Jessie M - $900/month

About Me

I am a disabled artist and humanitarian currently attending college online. I’m looking for a peaceful and understanding living situation where I can do a work trade in exchange for housing. Because of my physical disability, I’m limited to around 10–12 hours of work per week, which I value at $20 per hour.

What I Offer

I can cook, clean, and provide massage. I’m an educated nutritionalist and specialize in healthy cooking that supports healing — my skills are beyond the level of a regular cook and closer to moderate caregiving. I create balanced, nutrient-rich meals that help people feel better. My cooking background includes anti-inflammatory, antihistamine, and keto diets. I can cook vegan or with meat, depending on your needs. Personally, I do need some meat in my own diet for health reasons.

I’ve cooked for many people with different disabilities and have a gift for creating “healing meals” — food that’s both healthy and delicious. I can also offer advice on nutrition and general wellness. Along with cooking, I’m happy to help with cleaning, organizing, and creating a calm, health-supportive environment. I can also offer various natural remedies and holistic care practices.

My Work Capacity

Because I have dysautonomia, a severe disability that affects my autonomic nervous system, I can only work about three hours in the afternoon three days a week, and one additional day where I can do up to four hours. I cannot take on extra hours or commitments outside this schedule. I’m also reopening multiple businesses while attending school, so I don’t have extra time beyond my work-trade responsibilities.

My Needs

My health requires a very low-stress, toxin-free, and mold-free environment. I can’t tolerate germs, strong chemicals, or heavy physical labor. I also can’t handle controlling or emotionally demanding behavior. Moderate stress can put me in the hospital, so it’s essential that the home environment stays calm, respectful, and peaceful.

I need a fairly large room or a space that includes storage on the property for my art supplies and belongings. A decent-sized closet is important. Ideally, I would not share a wall with someone else because of pain sensitivity. Occasionally, I may make some noise at night for physical therapy, but I always try to be respectful and keep the household energy balanced.

About Me

I’m not a partier and don’t use drugs. I do use marijuana for pain, but I’m otherwise all-natural and take no prescription medications. I’m not religious and I don’t impose any beliefs on others. I’m part Native American and was raised in the Midwest — I have a strong personality, but I’m also deeply considerate and value mutual respect.

I am a recent human trafficking survivor working to rebuild my life. After nearly a decade in that situation, I’m starting over and looking for a place that can offer understanding and stability while I continue to heal and build my future. I’m currently running a successful art and crafting business and studying to become a humanitarian. My long-term goal is to start a project that helps other trafficking survivors, contributing to the community in meaningful ways.

Household and Boundaries

Because of my disability and workload, I can’t offer companionship or socializing beyond light connection to maintain good communication and harmony in the home. I value peace, clear boundaries, and mutual respect. I do occasionally have a guest over, usually someone who’s helping me with something I need.

I try to keep a good energy in the house and believe in shared consideration. I bring care, creativity, and health-oriented skills into the space, and I’m looking for people who can appreciate that and maintain a calm, stable household.

In short: I’m a highly skilled cook and holistic caregiver, a disabled artist rebuilding her life, and a humanitarian-in-training seeking a low-stress, understanding home where I can contribute through a fair and realistic work-trade arrangement.
