About Me

I’m a sales professional looking to move to NYC from Jacksonville, Florida and am looking for something affordable with a max individual budget of $1200/mo. My friends describe me as calm, analytical, yet up for a good time. I love intellectual wit and dry humor — Don’t be surprised if I occasionally sting you with a dad joke. In my free time, I enjoy listening to a wide variety of music, reading nonfiction, taking walks and listening to podcasts. I am a huge news junkie and love to talk about (and volunteer with/for) civic causes. I am active in my Christian faith community. I enjoy drinking (w/moderation) on occasion and keep a small selection of liquors on hand and for practicing my cocktail skills from time-to-time. I enjoy graphic design and tend to volunteer a lot in communications roles, which I usually do in public at coffee shops and the like.

I'm hoping to find a house in Queens or Brooklyn, with the Astoria neighborhood being a preference. I would like my own bedroom, and I'm open to living with 1-3 other people. I’ve lived with two roommates and shared a bathroom for the last 6 years, so I’m very comfortable with that arrangement. Ideally, the house would have a porch/balcony. If the bedrooms are sized differently enough to justify different prices, I'm happy staying in the larger or smaller room.

I work an irregular schedule, and so that frequently results in late night arrivals, early morning leaves and occasional sleep-in days. I often have a difficult time falling asleep, but once I’m out can sleep though light-to-moderate noise. And — although it’s hard to precisely predict how my routines will change as a transition away from a suburban setting, I tend to be out a LOT, so it’s likely you’ll find me home only during the evening or in the morning if I sleep in.

I’d love to get to know you and occasionally hang out, but also respect boundaries and don’t hold to the opinion that we have to be best friends to live together harmoniously. And — although I love pets, I am (sadly) allergic to them and would prefer a pet free home. I do not vape/smoke and want a home free of that.

As for getting around, I’m looking forward to using transit. I plan to leave my car back in Florida as to not have to pay for insurance, so I will not need to find an apartment with space for a car. I look forward to being in NY real soon.
