Hi there! We have five bedrooms available for June 1st in our 10-bedroom, 3-bathroom Capitol Hill home, one block away from Volunteer Park. This is an intentional community for people who identify as queer or are fierce allies who respect and support queer lives.
We are prioritizing queer applicants.
Longer-term applicants (two years or more) are preferred. The house is beautiful and spacious, so it doesn't generally feel crowded.

Pretty decent amount of natural light in each room.

Not a scent-free home, but not many scents present.

Some yard maintenance.

THE PEOPLE:
-------------------------------------------
We have created an intentional space for queer individuals and fierce allies to thrive. The people who live here are a mix of creatives and down-to-earth-types, ranging from 25-60 years old. More than anything, we’re searching for folks who have something unique to offer who want to actively contribute to building a community.
We all share house cleaning responsibilities in common areas and will expect you to do the same. We don't care if you eat meat or smoke. We care (a lot) that you clean up after yourself, pay your rent on time, are able to apologize and adjust when you have conflict, and maintain an open-minded disposition towards the house and its members.
Our community culture is important to us. Our home has been a shared home for decades. We have annual reunions which include housemates from as far back as we can find. We regularly have former housemates stay with us in our guest room, and often have had housemates move back in.
-------------------------------------------
CURRENT ROOMMATES:
-------------------------------------------
Zephyr (they/them) - white
Hiroshi (he/him)
Marcel (he/him) -white
Dani (she/her) - white
Kaden (they/them
-------------------------------------------
THE CATS:
-------------------------------------------
Tarot is a very social, very playful, loving kitty. He is vocal about his desires. He loves to cuddle.
Soot is an elderly but spry black kitty who loves to cuddle when he’s comfortable.
We are open to a new housemate with one kitty, but that is our limit.
We have a $500 pet deposit for each pet that comes into our home.
-------------------------------------------
HOUSE MANAGEMENT & COMMUNICATION TOOLS:
-------------------------------------------
We have mandatory monthly house meetings to keep everyone updated on important community items and participate in the decision-making process.
We utilize the following platforms to keep everyone on the same page:
-Slack, for messaging
-Venmo/Zelle, for rent and bill payments
-Google Drive, for internal documents and voting forms
-Google Calendar, for events and festivity information
-White boards and bulletin boards
-Chore checklists
We have an Events Committee and Safety Committee
We have monthly cleaning and maintenance parties with rotating focuses.
-------------------------------------------
REGULAR EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES:
-------------------------------------------
This is a great house for hosting, we have a giant backyard and common areas. So there are parties from time to time. That being said, you'll likely be disappointed if you are looking to relive your college days, as the house is generally pretty lowkey.
We have a number of regular optional community events which include:
-Game nights
-Craft nights
-Video game nights
-Drag Race viewing parties
-Movie nights
-Bonfires
-House-nights-out
and more!
------------------------------------------

-wants to stay in the same home for the next 2+ years.
-has 1 cat or less.
-is looking to be an active participant in a house community.
