Private Room in NW Berkeley

We are looking for a new roommate in our 3BR, 2BA house in North Berkeley near San Pablo & Cedar. The house is a 10-minute walk from the North Berkeley bart and one block from the 52 bus to the UC campus. The house has large shared common spaces (living room, dining room and kitchen) as well as a large backyard; the available room is 8' x 9'. The room is small but cozy, and there is a large closet outside of the room as well as a large foyer that could have a desk or dresser; our current roommate has a full-sized bed, two night stands, and a very large dresser in the room (see pics). Laundry on site; unfortunately no pets. Rent is $1175/month, plus a $1200 security deposit, and the place is rent controlled. Utilities ~$50/month for internet and electric (gas/water/trash included). Move-in March 20 - April 1.

About us: Carl is a graduate student and Margot is a research technician. We're both field biologists who get dirty and sometimes have crazy hours for fieldwork, so we're looking for someone who wouldn't be bothered by that (that being said, we're quiet when we're up and about at odd hours, and we keep the mud outside). Between us there's a lot of cooking/baking and gardening that goes on in the house, and we're both outdoorsy/active - hiking, climbing, skiing, and the like. We're pretty low-key at home (lots of reading, video games and knitting) but enjoy having barbecues and hosting gatherings at the house. We keep the house pretty tidy.
