Hi! My name is Rachel. I've lived in PLG since 2019 and this apartment since 2021! I love this neighborhood and this space. I'm looking forward to another year of enjoying Prospect Park, the local food and flavor, and the cozy space I am cultivating.
*There is currently a bit of transition in the apartment as 2 roommates leave. I am planning to rearrange a few things, tidy up, and paint a few walls in the common areas, so the space will look and feel different (but more homey) before you arrive!*
I have 2 rooms available starting on February 1st, though only one room is pictured as I was only able to upload so many photos. Second room photos can be sent upon request. The room pictured is $1400/month and includes a private bathroom (also pictured). The other room is $1300/month and includes a shared bathroom with bathtub (photos upon request). Lastly, I listed the rental as 1 year lease because that's what I am on, but I am open to month-to-month or shorter term tenants as well
A bit about me:
I am a freelance photographer working with newborn babies, professional dancers, and a few non-profits across NYC. I am an artist by trade and in my heart and deeply queer. I have a sweet, loving, angelic cat named Soup. She is a little shy at first, but once she warms up to you she will crawl right up in your lap if you let her. Unfortunately, as she was a street cat, she does not do well with other pets.
A bit about the space:
A 3 bedroom 2 bath, open floor plan apartment. 2nd floor walk up and unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.
In-unit Washer/Dryer and Dishwasher
Wall mounted heat and A/C units in each room
1 block from B/Q/Franklin Shuttle at Prospect Park stop
5 minutes walk to Prospect Park at Lincoln Rd Entrance.
Ample food and bars in the neighborhood.
One room is facing Flatbush Ave and will have street noise.
Utilities split 3 ways ranging from ~$50-$150/month
What I'm looking for in subletters:
Clean, kind folks with excellent communication skills
Queer friendly
Artist friendly
Partial or full in-person employment
Fellow introverts welcome
Folks who value a peaceful, relaxing, and cozy home to recharge in
Strong Desires:
No pets (sorry!)
Dishes need to be cleared from the sink no more than 24 hours after entering. Counter tops should be wiped down after cooking always. If a common item is empty (paper towels, dish soap, sponges, etc.) is empty, we will rotate who is replacing them.
Common area chores (vacuuming, swiffering the floors, dusting, ect.) will rotate weekly. I'm happy to make a chore chart if it helps us keep track!
Key Bowl Code: There will be a key bowl by the door. I ask that when we are home, we leave our keys there. I have found this to be an effective way to communicate who is home so that we can all feel comfortable using the space as we like to while still respecting each others boundaries
Overnight guests: If you have a partner or are dating and want to have someone spend 1 or 2 nights a week that is totally fine. If it will be more than 2 nights a week, this needs to be communicated in advance and should have a set end time.
Long term guests/parties: Long term (1 week+) should be communicated no less than 1 month in advance with set start and end dates. Having a few friends over for dinner and/or a movie ~once a week is welcomed, but should be communicated 4 hours prior to arrival, at the latest. Parties should be few and far between, collaborative, and communicated 2-3 months in advance.
