FYI THIS IS NOT IN CHICAGO. It was the closest 'metro area' offered on this list -- this is in the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis, MN.
Private room with hardwood floors & a chandelier, huge window with a street view and beautiful light. Closet. Internet is ~17/month, other utilities are ~34/month. All split evenly. Railroad apartment in a subdivided historic house. A few blocks from downtown and down the street from Washburn Fair Oaks park. We're on the second floor, with a few steps up to the porch followed by two flights of stairs to enter the apartment (unfortunately not wheelchair accessible). The room is somewhat cold/drafty in the winter (though there is a radiator) and hot in the summer due to the windows. There is a coin-op laundry setup in the basement along with some bike storage.
Note: there is no deposit required, but a $250 broker fee.
