Furnished room and private bathroom in Kalihi Valley, Honolulu- optional partial work trade available

Aloha, my husband and I have a room for rent in the lush, quiet, country-like neighborhood of Kalihi Valley in Honolulu. The room is fully furnished with a private bathroom and the house has AC throughout, a large living area, full kitchen, fenced-in yard, dedicated off-street parking, washer/dryer, and dishwasher. Our yard has seasonal fruit such as lilikoi, breadfruit, lemons, tangerines, herbs, many native plants and tropical flowers, which you would be welcome to enjoy.

The rent is $1200 a month (utilities included), with the option for a partial work trade (yard help) equivalent to $25 an hour deducted from the rent, up to 15 hours a month. No couples, no cigarette smoking. We have 2 dogs and a cat, so while we cannot have any more pets here, we need to live with someone who loves animals and is able to be mindful of their safety.

We are looking to start with a 3 month lease to see if it’s a good fit, then continue from there.

Our ideal housemate is respectful, communicative, and enjoys living in a clean, peaceful home. Everyone pitches in to keep the shared spaces tidy, and we appreciate someone who naturally takes care of the home they live in. We all value a friendly, comfortable space where people say hello, chat from time to time, and enjoy living together while also respecting each other’s privacy and personal space. If it happens naturally, we enjoy sharing an occasional meal or conversation, but everyone is also free to do their own thing.

Having a vehicle is strongly preferred. The nearest bus stop is about a 10–20 minute walk, and many previous tenants found having a car much more convenient.
