Hi, I'm Matt! I am a musician in a Houston-based rock band. For my day job, I manage a field-trip farm for Houston ISD. Prior to this, I was a middle school and high school English teacher for over a decade. I like to write, cook, garden and spend time with my dog, Sugarboy.
SB is a 23-pound poodle mix I found roaming the neighborhood six years ago. He doesn't have any noticeable shedding and loves to cuddle.
I'm pretty left-leaning in my world view and am a former evangelical Christian. I respect everyone and love to chat about things that matter. I'm very cautious when it comes to risking COVID-19 exposure and expect a roommate to be ready to have open communication about this.
I may bring home a romantic interest, especially if I get into a long-term relationship, but will not have unexpected strangers in the house without letting you know. I expect the same level of communication from a roommate.

Near Northside Atomic House
I bought my house new in 2014. It is decorated with vintage midcentury modern furniture. There is a covered patio in the back yard with a hammock, string lights, and a fountain. I have collected several pieces of art, mostly created by friends!
All bedrooms and two bathrooms are upstairs. The room I am renting has an ensuite bathroom and room for a desk or TV watching nook. (I don't have a TV in the common area.) It also has a queen-sized platform bed with memory foam mattress and side tables.
You will have half the garage for storage or parking as long as you're here.
The neighborhood is a mixed-income development where most of the neighbors know each other. It is a colorful, friendly little spot with walking paths, two parks and a community garden.
When I have a roommate living in the house, a cleaning service comes once a month. This, along with all utilities is included in your monthly rent.
