Available Room for Rent

Room for rent in shared apartment near High Park and TTC Subway - $720/month, plus utilities.

(Note: I do have photos of the room itself, but for some reason the upload kept freezing when I tried to add them. If you're interested, I can show them to you and/or give you a virtual tour of the apartment over Zoom.)

Hi there! We have an unfurnished room available in a shared apartment in the High Park North area, a couple minutes walk to the subway station, and right near the park itself. The building is a triplex on a fairly quiet, residential street. It's a bit of an older building, but the apartment is fairly spacious. In addition to the private 10'X10' bedroom, there is a shared kitchen, bathroom, and living room. Our unit is on the top floor of a walk-up building, and it is accessible via the front and rear stairwells. There is a laundry room in the basement with coin-operated machines.

There is no on-site parking currently available. There may be a possibility of renting an extra parking spot from the landlord for an additional fee, but we cannot make any guarantees in that regard.

The two of us already living here are a man and a woman, both in our thirties and both employed full-time. Between us, we have a variety of interests, including the arts, the outdoors, film, literature, games, etc. We are easygoing, down-to-earth people, and are hoping to find a roommate who shares those qualities. We would love it if our new roommate was interested in being sociable with us, but we would also understand if you would prefer to keep more to yourself.

Neither of us smoke, so we would prefer our new roommate to also be a non-smoker. If you do periodically smoke, then we would ask that you do so outside of the building only.

While we generally tend to keep things fairly quiet here, we are certainly not opposed to roommates having groups of friends over for socializing (once the pandemic has abated, of course). However, this apartment would not be a good fit for someone who is a hard-drinking, hard-partying type.

We do not have pets, and we ask that you don't either, unless it's something that resides in a cage or aquarium.

We consider the apartment to be a safe and inclusive space. We are taking the pandemic seriously, and as such we would like our new roommate to be someone who is vaccinated or planning to be vaccinated soon.

Rent is $720.82 a month per person, plus internet and hydro (which varies slightly from month to month, depending on usage). In total, the average is usually around $760 a month, sometimes less. Deposit for last month's rent is $620. Should our arrangement with the landlord change, the rent may increase a bit, but we would of course keep our new roommate apprised of any updates involving such matters.

The room is available as early as July 1st, but anyone looking for August is also welcome to apply. If you have any questions about us or the apartment, please do not hesitate to send a message and ask.
