I grew up in Westchester County, New York, in a small town called Elmsford. We were situated about 40 minutes from Manhattan, N.Y. I grew up in a middle-class household, but our school was very diverse. I ended up with one of my best friends, a black man, Tony Newton. We were recruited by Hofstra University, the same college, for football. We became best friends. Tony died last week from a stroke and cancer. He was an incredible athlete who was invariably our best in every sport. I miss him, and my heart aches. I eventually became a criminal defense lawyer and practiced in SanDiego, California. I recently became a military lawyer,and I'm trying to build a new career at the age of 73. That's a little story about me.
