About Me

Me: 37 year old woman with full-time job in media in Manhattan. I'm usually out of the house from around 9am to 7pm. I'm friendly but not overly friendly or needy or clingy or intrusive. At home I generally putz around, read, watch Netflix, play records, reorganize. Trying not to kill my plants. I am currently single, but that doesn't mean I always will be (does it?), but you won't have a 'third' unwanted roommate. I like things clean but am not uptight--I always keep things tidy and picked up and try not leave dishes in the sink for more than a day, but do the real deep cleaning on the weekends. My standard is 'what would my mother think if she walked in right now?'

Available Room for Rent

Bright airy room in Clinton Hill, available now!

Apartment: Recently renovated two-bedroom. Hardwood floors, open layout with lots of light (corner apartment!), great kitchen with marble countertops, second-floor walkup. There's only one other apartment in the building and they are lovely neighbors. Your bedroom is medium sized (perfect for full bed and dresser and desk) with a large closet. There's the possibility of buying the bed and some other bedroom furniture from the current tenant as she is moving across the country (open to discussion). The rest of the apartment is fully furnished and kitchen stocked. Shared large bathroom with ample hot water and good water pressure. I have literally never seen a single bug other than the occasional errant housefly. Shared bills are around $75 each month, a little more in the summer. Central heat and air! There is no laundry in the apartment, but multiple laundromats to choose from nearby and there's also a great local pick-up and delivery service I can recommend (same day turnaround!). 2 short blocks from Classon G train, 10 minute walk to Franklin C and shuttle trains, 30 minutes to downtown Manhattan. Buses nearby include B48, B52, B38, and B44. Citibike 2 blocks away that can take you anywhere!

Neighborhood: Clinton Hill is a beautiful friendly community-feeling neighborhood with gorgeous historic brownstone- and mansion-lined streets and lots of little parks and community gardens (three on our block alone!). The apartment is located directly above the fantastic Clementine Bakery (vegan treats and coffee and all kinds of goodies!), and across from Speedy Romeo (fancy pizza). Surrounding blocks offer such wonders as Chilo's (bar and taco truck), Meckleburg's (fancy deli with bar), Locanda Vini e Olii (amazing Italian), Aita (other amazing Italian), The Finch (Michelin star!), Dou Yoga studio across the street, and others. There's a Family Dollar and a hardware store a block away to get the essentials that you hate spending actual money on (detergent, paper towels, etc), and three different grocery stores that are within a five minute walk. There is a nice big clean affordable YMCA gym five minutes away also. The area is located halfway between the business districts of Myrtle and Fulton Avenues with their shops, restaurants, and bars and a couple blocks from Pratt. Fort Greene farmers' market at Fort Greene Park is a nice leisurely ten minute walk away on the weekends. Also easily walkable: Navy Yard, Atlantic Center (with Target and Uniqlo, access to Long Island Railroad), Barclays Center, etc. The bus across the street from the apartment drops you right in front of Trader Joes, Alamo Drafthouse, and the other mini-Target at City Point. Street parking is generally not difficult to find in the surrounding blocks if you have a car and there is a garage around the corner if you wish to pay for monthly parking.

You: Pretty much like me. 30s/early 40s. Laid back, adult, responsible, friendly. Knows how to share a space and chores and be communicative about any issues or problems without being passive aggressive. Someone who wants to make this their home, not just a place to store stuff and sleep. Might want to occasionally share a bottle of wine or bingewatch something together. Ideally you also work full time, maybe have an earlier or later schedule so we aren't fighting for the shower in the morning. Also okay with the occasional partner sleepover, just not all the time please. Host your friends of course, but I'd prefer to keep the social scene pretty mellow (dinner parties--cool, late night ragers--not cool). I'm kind of a homebody and am often home, so if you'd find that annoying that wouldn't be good. It's a corner apartment on a busy street, so there is occasionally a bit of noise--so it's probably best if you are not a super light sleeper! No smoking inside. All genders and orientations welcome. No couples please.
