Hello, my name is Mike but my friends call me Schmidty. I grew up in a small(ish) town in Central Illinois where I played video games with friends and football. After high school, I attended Northern Illinois University for 5 years where I got my Bachelors in English and my Masters in English. After graduating from college, I started teaching English and Composition courses at several different colleges in the Chicagoland area.

For my free time, I really enjoy just relaxing by either marathoning a Netflix show or watching all of Seinfeld again for the millionth time. I also spend a lot of time listening to music. I have a modest record and CD collection, but I primarily listen through my headphones while I'm browsing social media. Additionally, I enjoy playing music. I play guitar and bass in several different projects, but don't worry, I have a separate rehearsal space so I won't be too loud at home (I hate that). On the weekends, I do enjoy going out either to a local show or to a pub with some friends. I like to have fun, but you could describe me more as a "weekend warrior". I can get a little rowdy and do enjoy having company over, but I do most of my "partying" (if you can call it that) at other people's residence.
