The apartment
It is full of sunlight and quiet. Architect renovation, beautiful and functional. In addition, it is very comfortable and nice, real sun entering through all windows and no neighbors in front of windows but the kitchen. Furnished but not crowed. Excellent hot water and heat (included in price) Internet. Secure metal door. Three floors up, no elevator.
Living room, non-clutter with stylist table and working office table, mats to yoga. No sofa, no TV. Bathroom is comfortable, very good water pressure with window and bath top. Kitchen is really cute and rational. Made on demand by myself (architect and artist) Customized pieces. Eating in with the sun coming from the window. Completely new kitchen with granite counters tops, and brand new appliances, full window.
The room for rent
Double bedroom for rent; size 110 SQF has one big window, natural light, clean and newly painted in September, has a built-in closet, and double bed with very good mattress. The desk is outside the room, right by the bedroom´s door in the living room. Price is 1150$ included heat and hot water.
Location
The apartment is very close to two subways; in the same block than the 1 (red line145 station) and a few minutes away (2 blocks) from the A or D 145 Express to 59thSt.
The apartment is in an small street that goes from Hamilton place, to Riverside Park; the very rich live in 144th and Convent, and then when one cross Amsterdam it is a mix of brownstones, coops and rentals at the corner with Broadway. I love to walk a block and be in a park: Riverside Drive Park with the best pool in town. It is a real park, you can go north walking up to George Washington bridge and can follow the rail lines and keep walking all the way North to the tip of the island or down to 72nd st.
The area
The area is residential, by the City college (7 blocks away) and close to (Columbia University) this has the advantage of offering free and open to the public lectures.. Great un-expensive restaurants, Ecuadorian Mexican and Dominican, Margot,.. Also good quality international and bistros restaurants some classic like Tonelis and son that open in the last five years, you can choose, hand made noodles, Italian, Portuguese etc…Some of the places have brunch and jazz.
Fifteen minutes walk to jazz venues, Shrine (at 137)
10 minutes subway ride to Columbia University area.
House Rules
The building is a coop and the coop board needs to approve candidates and explain the building rules. It's a very friendly and safe building where everybody knows each other. The guest needs to friendly and tranquil, not noise after 11 pm.
Use of communal spaces on kitchen, living room and bathroom. Please use the kitchen to cook and eat and move to the living room or to your bedroom instead of installing yourself in the kitchen. Clean after yourself in the kitchen and bathroom.
There is a fee for cleaning communal areas. What is considered clean is relative and what one is willing to clean in a rental is variable.
