About Me

Hi! I'm Jessie. I am moving back to NYC from Arizona after taking a couple years of a break from the crazy city life. As you probably know, it's a love/hate relationship! I am a professional interior designer, so I take pride in my home and consider it a sanctuary at the end of the day, hoping you will too. I used to live way out in Bay Ridge, so I'm looking forward to making my longtime dream of living on the Upper West Side a reality!

I have had some incredible roommate experiences in the past, so I have total faith in apartment shares being a positive aspect of life in the city! I hope we can become friends and enjoy hanging out, but I also need my quiet time and totally respect your need for yours. I love to cook (mostly healthy food) but am down to order takeout sometimes too. I do enjoy wine and a great martini every so often, but I generally keep it low-key on weeknights. Although I don't intend to bring the party home, I would love to have friends over for dinner/drinks sometimes, and expect to host an out of town guest every so often, and would want you to feel comfortable doing the same! No live-in significant others, please. Occasional overnight stays are okay, but I'm not a fan of finding strangers in my living room in the morning, or taking on an unplanned third roommate, and plan to honor that in return. You should be clean and tidy, and willing to share in cleaning responsibilities and purchasing household necessities. I am very laid back, and don't expect anyone to be perfect (because I'm certainly not), but if I have one pet peeve it is passive aggressiveness; let's talk it out. Nothing gets resolved if no one speaks up!

My work schedule is generally 9-6, but I might be taking a position in Newark which would have me gone for longer periods of time factoring in the commute. Eventually, I'm hoping to find a sweet spot with my job that allows me to travel (my passion) and work remotely for a few months at a time, so that would mean finding a temporary sublet for my room. I'd be leaving my things/furniture behind for this person to use while I am away, so finding an honest, reliable and tidy temporary replacement would obviously be crucial for me, but I'd also want you to feel comfortable with this if/when it should come up.

I will be bringing some furniture pieces, lamps, art, as well as most kitchen supplies including dishes, glassware, etc. I also have a dining table and chairs that is great for dining and multipurpose. I'm willing to purchase additional furniture, such as a sofa and others, but would hope you are able to pitch in on some pieces as well. A perk of my job is discounts on furniture/decor, and I'm happy to help you pick stuff out if you want my suggestions! I would call my personal decorating style "cozy modern eclectic" if that means anything to you. I also can mockup our apartment digitally to help work out some smart layouts, etc. I am a total design nerd and love doing this. I've also bounced around so much in the last five years that I'm really looking forward to actually hanging stuff on the walls, and actually putting some TLC into my living space.
